What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is
a naturally occurring state of
awareness in which a person is more
inclined to accept outside
suggestions. The hypnotic
state heightens memory and
perceptions and can act as a
catalyst toward rapid healing,
enhanced creativity, as well as
other benefits.
How does hypnosis work?
The hypnotic
state automatically occurs anytime a
person becomes deeply relaxed or
highly focused. Hypnosis can occur
when a person is driving a car,
reading a good book, or when
watching a movie. A professional
hypnotist can prompt and regulate
the hypnotic state in individuals
and help facilitate desired changes
through the use of properly worded
hypnotic suggestions.
Does hypnosis really work?
Yes, and it
is one of the most pleasant and
natural self help tools available.
It puts you in charge of your own
mind and your outcomes.
Common myths about hypnosis.
Contrary to
popular beliefs, hypnosis is not
sleep or a state of unconsciousness.
While hypnotized the client
generally hears and remembers much
of what is being spoken. The client
is not out-of-control during
sessions and can freely choose to
disregard any suggestions the
hypnotist makes. Hypnosis helps a
person become more inclined to do
things they want to do.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most
hypnosis clients describe the state
as extremely pleasant, deeply
relaxing, and euphoric. The most
common feelings reported by hypnosis
clients include the following: deep
relaxation; a slight tingly or numb
feeling; a feeling of heaviness or a
sensation of floating; a desire to
swallow more obvious than when fully
conscious; slight body twitches; eye
fluttering; and a noticeable change
in breathing.
Generally
speaking, the client hears and
remembers 50-100% of what is said
during the session and is very aware
of his own body and breathing
as well as of the temperature and
sounds in the room. Most people
(about 90%) are actually more aware
(not less aware) when hypnotized.
Some people go so deeply into
hypnosis that they have no memory of
the session but most clients hear
and remember most of the hypnosis
experience
What can hypnosis be used for?
Hypnosis can be used for virtually
anything. The most common uses of
hypnosis include: • stress reduction
• smoking cessation • weight loss
• relaxation •fertility •
creativity & personal empowerment •
memory and study skills • health
improvement • sales skills • sports
improvement • tension headaches •
self confidence • pain management •
age regression • public speaking •
exercise motivation • sound sleep •
procrastination • test anxiety
• past life regression and more.
How many hypnosis sessions will
I need?
How many
sessions a client needs will depend
upon the client’s motivation and the
type of change the client is
seeking. In many cases only one
session is necessary. It is
recommended that each client call
for a free telephone consultation to
determine the approximate number of
sessions and cost. It is also
recommended that the client fill out
an intake form completely to help
the hypnotist gauge how many
sessions are advised and the
approximate cost prior to the
telephone consultation.
Is it different from stage
hypnosis?
Yes
it is very different - Stage
hypnosis is about entertainment.
A stage hypnotist doesn’t choose
a person because they are good
hypnotic subjects, he will pick
them because they’re good
entertainment. Most stage
operators can ask members of the
public to do ridiculous things
and they will do it, there’s no
hypnosis involved. Stage
hypnotists choose people who
want to enjoy themselves, who
want to be on that stage. They
want to be compliant, they want
to do what they are being asked
to do, they want to be the stars
of the show.
Is it safe? - can I get left in a
hypnotic state?
It's
perfectly safe, you cannot get left in a
hypnotic state. If something were to
happen to the Hypnotist you would fall
into a normal state of sleep and wake up
shortly. If for any reason you felt the
need to break off in the middle of a
session, you can simply say to yourself
“ wake-up”, and you will be out of your
hypnotic state and able to deal with
anything that needs your attention.
Remember that hypnosis is simply a
deeply relaxed state, you are not
asleep, you are in control.
Can hypnosis really work for me?
Hypnosis
can work for anyone, it will work
for you if you are prepared to go
along with what you are asked to do,
and that is just simply to relax and
listen. It’s easy, there’s no effort
required.
Will it work if someone's
skeptical?
Yes it will work. Skeptical
clients receive just as much benefit
as anybody else. Hypnosis is not a
belief system. People are amazed at
the changes they can make for
themselves, whether they are
skeptical or not. How long does
it take to see the effects?
You will notice an effect,
immediately after that first
session. Of course, some people will
notice quicker results than others,
it just depends at what point that
you’re starting from. The effects
will get stronger and stronger, just
be prepared for change!
